Vitamin F forte: Helps to form the skin’s protective lipid barrier and maintain its physiological functions. By virtue of the occlusive effect provided by an effective lipid barrier, it helps to keep the skin hydrated and protect it from external attack.
Vitamin E: A powerful anti-free radicals, capable of reducing ageing from tissue oxidation. It also has moisturising and regenerative properties.
Vitamin A: Improves collagen density, skin density and softens the skin.
Calendula oil: Calendula, or marigold, has regenerative properties for the skin thanks to its action on the glycoproteins and collagen fibres. It also contains active water-retaining molecules which maintain the skin’s hydration level and
molecules with anti-inflammatory activity.
Argan oil: Argan oil is rich in naturally occurring antioxidants, essential fatty acids, carotenoids, sterols, polyphenols and contains particularly high levels of vitamin E. It is a very powerful regenerator and improves the skin barrier with the aim of reducing trans- epidermal water loss. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect with antioxidant properties.
Avocado oil: Thanks to its lipid content and vitamins A, D and E, to its excellent trans-epidermal penetration, which penetrates and nourishes the different layers of the skin, to its high moisturising and emollient power which softens and relaxes the skin, more and more companies are incorporating avocado oil in their cosmetic formulations and beauty products, with excellent results. Avocado oil is highly valued in cosmetics for its high content in fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E.
This makes it capable of deep nourishment, softening of the epidermis and relief of skin flaking. Avocado oil diffuses well and is easily absorbed by the skin, where it carries out a natural barrier function. Cottonseed oil: Restorative action on the skin’s barrier function The lack of essential fatty acids in human beings leads to skin injuries and deterioration which can be observed as flaking, dry appearance and loss of flexibility and skin tautness.
The keratinisation process is disrupted and the mitotic index and DNA synthesis diminish. This skin loses a large part of its protective function and perspiration increases considerably. Skin injuries linked to the lack of essential fatty acids improve after percutaneous application of oils containing a high proportion of these acids. For this reason they are used in dermatology and cosmetology for the treatment of dry skin types, skin with wrinkles or to promote healing, acting as a tissue stimulator and regenerator (Holguera, 1993).
Vegetable oils and fats are good emollients due to their lipophilic nature. These compounds effectively prevent water loss through the epidermis as they possess excellent occlusive properties. Different studies have shown that the higher the level of unsaturation of an oil, the less viscous it is and the higher its rate of penetration into the skin. All this means that cottonseed oil is highly recommendable when formulating cosmetic products with a moisturising and emollient activity, including hair care products.
Anti-inflammatory activity Dermatitis is a very common type of skin inflammation. The skin is our natural barrier for controlling the entry and exit of substances from our body. Dermatitis is mainly caused by the loss of integrity of the skin’s structure. This loss of integrity results in higher than normal trans-epidermal water loss and is therefore the cause of skin irritation. It has been proven that patients suffering from dermatitis have low levels of all the polyunsaturated derivates of linoleic acid in their tissues.
Different clinical trials have proven the effectiveness of external application of linoleic acid. Therefore, cottonseed oil is recommendable when formulating cosmetic products for the care of sensitive and/or irritated skin. Tiare´ flower extract: Long used for its moisturising properties, it also has calming and nourishing effects as well as purifying properties, and it is hypoallergenic and extremely soft to the skin. Caviar extract: Repairs, firms, stimulates and hydrates at the same time as protecting from attack from the sun’s rays.
